It's probably safe to assume that this guys is at the low end of all of his grades based on past performance. But yeh ABE ain't being to kind to him.

He's never been a power hitter anyway, so what's the big surprise? All of last season he hit a total of 8. Players go through slumps as well.

And now he has 3 in his past 62 at bats ..........small samples are silly .

We all tend to grumble about poor performances, myself included, but we need to remember that even a full season (heck, even a decade) is a small sample size. 200 at bats? Forget about it.

Imagine if you will statistics for two players that had ten year careers and 5000 at bats. Player A hit .274 with 159 homers. Player B hit .295 with 219. We all would say B was considerably better; in fact, it's no contest. However, they were both generated using the exact same likelihood of getting a hit and homer. I created a player that should hit .280 and hit 200 homers. I ran the simulation 100 times and got those outlier performances (and they weren't far from the ones surrounding them either).We all tend to grumble about poor performances, myself included, but we need to remember that even a full season (heck, even a decade) is a small sample size. 200 at bats? By the way it's now September in Mann's league, he's up to 10 homers, having hit 9 in his past 261 at bats, one every 29 at bats, a ratio that far exceeds his career rate of one every 46.2 at bats, in fact even with the egregious slump at the season's start he's still slightly ahead of his career rate this year with one homer per 45.9 at bats.
But yeah, lets start a thread about how our guy's getting jobbed .

I don't understand frustration over low HRs from A- to B+ power anyway. It's like having a B-/A+ starter and demanding "Where are my strikeouts???"Pages: 1
