My starting catcher Ben Zirkle is A-/A- against righties and A/A- against lefties and has hit .299 or higher 3 of the last 4 years and has a career AVG of .269 is hitting only .163. In baseball hitters sometime have bad seasons, but I don't recall someone hitting that much below other seasons.

I think where in the lineup you bat him has an effect on his performance.

Until recently I had him batting 4th against lefties and 5th against righties. I am hoping dropping him in the order he'll regain his stroke. Last year I did that with McNeely and he did regain his stoke, but he was never below .225 though.
