Previously, I had to pre-render each logo on all 20 helmet colors, then again on plain backgrounds (for logo-only uses), then re-render the resulting 2760 images into all of the different sizes in which a helmet or logo could appear. Now, the system takes a base image (the flat helmet color and outline), overlays the logo, overlays the shading/face mask, then scales the image to the appropriate size, so I can now add a new helmet color by adding one file or a new logo by adding two files (one version for light colored helmets, another for dark, usually the same image with a white border).
Note that most of your helmets will be missing logos for a while because I have to redraw all 68 existing logos from scratch to fit the new system. There are some new helmet colors, though; those are available right away. I have the first three logos available, and the others will slowly appear a few each day, when I need a break from regular coding I'll do the graphic work.
On the plus side my art skills have gotten better in the 12 years or so it's been since I first created these images:

I like the bear logo. I may have to move my franchise to Maine when that logo becomes available.

That original bear logo is currently so unpopular only one team on the entire site uses it.Chris

Yes... with the new system I can add logos in minutes, whereas it took much longer before.

I need to add three colors so both the "Change helmet" and signup pages have perfect rectangular blocks, so if your favorite helmet shade isn't represented, now is the time. (Sorry, no plaid.)

Now it takes minutes to add a helmet color whereas before it would take so long (probably a several day project to add a color) that I simply never did it. So I can afford to have subtle differences in helmet color now where before each color had to be distinct enough to stand on its own. So now we have both crimson and maroon (where maroon is just a touch more to the purple side than crimson), powder and aqua (and I probably should add an even lighter blue). I have avoided pinks so far (other than fuschia which is basically hot pink) but I could add one now.I need to add three colors so both the "Change helmet" and signup pages have perfect rectangular blocks, so if your favorite helmet shade isn't represented, now is the time. Some of the logos are greatly improved over the old ones. For example: I've wanted to use the sword before but always thought it was too cartoonish.

The problem was I couldn't find the clipart disk where that one came from... I'll see if I can resurrect it with enough quality to fit on the new system.Chris
