Hall of Fame Vote - 1st Base

February 16, 2014 at 01:25AM View BBCode

Alright, I finally got this put together. Listed are all the 1st Baseman who retired by 2000, and played in 5 or more All-Star Games. I listed the current Hall of Famers for comparison.

It has been MANY years since any Hall of Famers were selected. There may or may not be several good candidates.

Rules:
Vote for anyone you feel should be in the Hall of Fame
2/3 yes votes of ballots cast for election
Deadline for vote of 1st Baseman: Sunday, February 23rd.
Anyone who receives two votes will be carried to next years ballot of all players.

The Los Angeles NightCats vote for :

Sean Sloan
Jim Tubbs
Shaun Goebel

In addition we'd like to vote for,
Terry Corey, and Andy Allison for the sole purpose of carrying them over to
next year.

Thanks Santo, love the way you arranged the stats. It makes comparisons very easy with all the info at your fingertips. :D

I just discovered that Jim Tubbs played the vast majority of his games at 3B, and so he should probably be in that vote.

Also, I think the 5 All-Star appearances vote is too strict. For instance, in future votes, Ken Hiser only made 4 All-Star teams and thus would be left out even though he has like the third highest OPS in the history of this league. I don't think anyone was left out this time, but maybe a better criterion would be 5 All-Star appearances OR 1 All-Star appearance and a career OPS > .800. This would not be too much more work, and would lead to a more complete process.

Anyways, I would like to thank Santo10 for going through all the work to do this. It's been a lot of fun.

Good catch on Tubbs...sorry I missed that. He was an all-star at each position. So we are going to move Tubbs to the 3rd base group.

There will be a few players without 5 All-Star appearances that are very high in overall stats that I will include. Usually, that isn't the case. I arbitrarily made a cutoff so that the list would not be so incredibly long. Some of these 5+ All-Stars are good, but not Hall of Fame material.

If I miss somebody you think needs to be in there, please let me know.
