It does not matter what name you change your players to, as their is no rule towards this, with one exception. No profane language is allowed.
You can change your player's name to Abe Lincoln or Butter Stick if you like.
This rule is being put in place to keep the integrity of the league in regards to record keeping and league continuity.

I might just name a guy Butter Stick now. Just becuase that's awesome.

I have configured this in the league settings. The game will allow you to change the nickname but not the first or last name after the rookie year.
