HOF

Not sure how it works, but I would like to nominate Hy Hardwon for the HOF. His numbers speak for themselves. 13 time AS, 7 time Fireman, and over 500 saves.Hy Hardwon

Looks like Brooklyn has the power. I'd like to see it get started again. The all-time HR leader retired a couple years ago from my squad, so I wouldn't mind enshrining him too. Anyone else up for getting this going?

I'm not sure if I've got anyone to nominate, but I think we should go for it.

The Los Angeles Nightcats sadly announce that they will be nominating no one for the Hall of Fame again this year. *wiping the tears away*:(

I would like to nominate Hy Hardwon as stated previously.

All-time HR king Joe Stevens: http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6639260
Gary Moore: http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7386277
Lovie Sheath: http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5132132
I'm sure there are more deserving. These guys easily HOF worthy. Sabel and Hardwon have my vote too.

Archie Harkey: http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5333452 should be worthy; 14 all-star selections, ROY and 3 MVPs. 2B with almost 500 HR.
Tom Welf: http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=4925508 is a maybe.
These guys are long before my time in the league...

Stevens, Moore, Sheath, and Harkey are a yes. Welf is a no for me.

Probably should do a vote...like the real HOF. In the Ken Griffey Jr. League we have a vote every season. 70% of voters required to get in.
I built a list a few years back of guys who should have ANY consideration. Obviously not all of those would get in. The problem is it has been MANY years since anyone was admitted, so there are several players who are probably worthy.

Here are some candidates by position. This is extremely tough because two decades have passed since election, and the HOF had been extremely tight even before that after the intial few elections. There could be others that I don't list that might have a special case...but we have to start somewhere
Starting Pitchers
Lovie Sheath
Gary Moore
Pete Allen
Tom Ardner
Ty Malis
Tom Jackson
Ferris Gaines
Bobby Jones
Relief Pitchers
Brian Garcia
Hy Hardwon
George Dickel
Potsy O'Brien
Probably other pitchers who could get into the argument.
1st Base
Sean Sloan
Terry Corey
Ken Hiser
2nd Base
Archie Harkey
Jake Sinclair
George Sabel
Ed Finley
Bert Ederney
Shortstop
Joe Stevens
Frank Vuckovich
George Sparks
Third Base
Cecil Cotton
Brady McDonald
Tim Clines
Luke Tesch
Jim Tubbs
Outfield
George Kleinhans
Pete McCallister
BJ Burdock
Jim Stewart
Mike Martyn
Johnny Bragg
Tom Page
Brian Ross
Catchers
Tom Burnett
Bill Hankins
John Martinez
Bruce Tischinski
(about 8 others....who could just about make the same case as these)
Catcher is EXTREMELY tough, no one stands out a great deal but the one HOFer. There won't be very many catchers in the hall if they are held to the same standard.
Suggestion:
Fill our ballot this year...if not on ballot they are out. Anybody nominated is on the first ballot. I will be glad to write up a summary on each.
Annual Election - 2/3rds of voters needed to elect.
Normally limit of up to 10 votes per voter. First two years extend that to 20.
After 2nd vote, anyone not receiving two votes is off the ballot.

Of the list I just put up there...I think I would vote for the vast majority of them.
Next ballot shoe-ins should be
Joe Stevens
Archie Harkey
Brian Garcia
Lovie Sheath
Gary Moore
after that the vote probably gets split....but more probably go in (if not on the first ballot, those shortly after)

That's a huge list, does anyone think we'll have better luck breaking it up into smaller pieces to begin with? At least until we get caught up. Thanks to Santo for getting us started.

Any suggestion as to how?
We could do a series of votes....
Pre-1990 retirees (which we could really get a smaller list)
all of those with less than 2 votes are out
Then retirees from 1990-1994 added to the ballot, vote again.
All of those with less than 2 votes are out
1995-1999 retirees added, then vote again.
Then go up to date.
(The original list could be more comprehensive and then we could really do a good job, not sure if everyone would want to put that much into it. I don't mind writing up a summary on nominations.)

Or we could do it by position, infield, then outfield, then pitchers. might give us a little more comparisons. Just an idea, I'm willing to do whatever you guys wish.

So three ideas....
1. Hold one vote this year....Allow up to 20 to be voted for in the first 3 years.
2. Hold a series of votes... Pre-1990, 1990-94 + holdovers, 1995-99 + holdovers, and next year catch up with a 2000-2004 Retirees + holdovers. Then hold annual elections
3. Hold a vote by position to catch up. Just up/down on all candidates. Next year include names who got at least 2 votes, eliminate all others. No limit on who you vote for.
I think all three are better than not having anyone in the Hall. I can go along with any of them. We are behind the eight ball a bit because of number of legitimate candidates. It will be a challenge anyway we do it.
Personally, I like #2 best because it would come closest to resembling actual HOF voting. However, #1 is the easiest because it only requires 1 vote. #3 requires the most votes, but probably will get the best representation in the Hall.
Since we are very much behind....we could use a 5 Year Retirement Rule...so only players who have been retired by 1999 would be eligible. That would cut down a few candidates...such as Gary Moore would have to wait a few years.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
Just for a comparison the Ken Griffey Jr. League is in season 2013. They have an active HOF and I would consider fair, but somewhat restrictive entry. They have 80 members in the Hall. 63 seasons has yielded 80 for 1.2+ per season.
Our league has been around 9 years less. We only have 27 members. So we have been around 54 years and at 1.2 per season...we would have 65 members. (That is assuming near the same election rate). That means we are in the neighborhood of having 38 eligible people who would get voted in. That is why this task is so daunting. No one has been elected in the last 18 years, and only 6 have been elected in the last 29. (In the list I provided above I would honestly vote for a minimum of 25 of them...likely many more)

I would prefer #2 or#3, but it might be easier to do it all in one vote with the interest we seem to be receiving. Might a HoF committee be in order to weed out some of the more non-deserving ones, though at this point I don't know that it won't still be a large list.

I would say #3 to make sure the deserving get in.
