Moving a team to the JSL
September 16, 2013 at 10:15PM View BBCode
Hi,
We're in the process of winding down the Dan Quisenberry League and one of the owners, cowboymatt43, would like to clone his team and join the JSL and replace the San Diego franchise. Here is his team: http://www.simdynasty.com/depth.jsp?teamid=86231
This would be done at the end of the current season. He would draft in the spot vacated by the team he replaces. Any players currently on that team would be retired, with the new owner's players and team taking its place. All his players would have no stats.
If there are any objections to this, please post privately in Support so we can discuss. I will give folks until next Monday to consider this and ask questions.
Thanks!
Tyson

I'm in the DQL as co-commissioner with CowboyMatt. I would definitely NOT having any reservations to him joining the league.
He also does the HOF for the league.

If San Diego is being contracted, we will not be making any more trades.

I have no real issues I just think where his record is from his last year in his league should be where in our league he should draft not sd spot.

I would agree, it would be rough if he had a contender and also got the first pick.

I agree, we'll give him the draft pick based on his record for the prior season in his league.
Ok, we'll be moving forward with this. I've removed San Diego from the list of replacement teams. MDorf - I will likely assign you another team in a different league next week.
Thanks,
Tyson

And for the schedule. If my math is correct, you guys will run your next draft next Monday, the 30th. I will work on cloning the team on Monday, with the draft pushed back to Tuesday October 1st.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Tyson

Is there any way to put San Diego's players into the draft? I just don't feel right about making trades. It just seems like it could lead to problems in the league. By the same token, it would be a shame for some of these guys to cease to exist.

Sorry, it is not possible. They will not disappear completely, they will just retire.

Ok, I've set everything up. The new team will be in Los Angeles.
The amateur draft will run tomorrow. Los Angeles will draft 13th based on his performance last season in the DQL (he lost in the LCS and finished 91-71). This bumps most teams up 1 spot.
Also, the former franchise was owed 3 draft picks. A 1st rounder this season from the New York Smashers, and a 2nd rounder this season AND next season from Milwaukee. Since these teams received players for these picks, it wouldn't be fair for them to retain these picks. So after the draft, I will retire the players selected with these picks.
Can one of the commishes remind me to do this next season as well?
If you notice any issues with the cloned team in the league, please let me know. I've checked everything I could think of (player stat lines, they appear on the standings, schedule pages, etc.) But if I missed something, please post an urgent message in Support and I will take a look.
Thanks!

I've made these 2 players worthless rather than retire them:

Matt - info on where you drafted and why is above.
Thanks!
