31 K's in his last 3 starts -

Not bad for a Starting Pitcher no one wanted at the trade deadline (Cy Young). This guy could have easily helped one of the top teams to win it all. Instead all I was offered for him was pretty much a 3rd round pick from Tampa and a deal Detroit decided not to send.
Meanwhile with 6 more starts left for Cy Young he has a shot at breaking 300 K's for a single season if he averages 10 per game. Plus with 6 games to go on my crappy team he has a good shot at another 20 win season with good low ERA. On a good team he probably would have been closer to 26 wins on the season.

If he was a few years younger, you'd probably have had a lot more action.

emidas is right. Plus my staff is pretty solid with a youngster on the way. No need to give up the farm at this point. This was a bad time to try to move him in the AL... now as for the NL, I figured you would get some action over there.

I think if the announcement had been in the off-season or even earlier when more teams were in contention, he'd have had quite a few NL biters.

EDIT: For the record, I offered two 2nds. I've managed to turn those late 2nds into quite the farm, so they're not useless.

If you had made me an offer I would have considered it but it's usually not my style to trade for older players, so it probably wasn't going to happen.

Cy has 3 games left in the season and needs only 22 K's to break the single season all time record AGAIN.

Emidas you only offered me a single 2nd round pick and as we both know your 2nd round picks are pretty much early 3rd round picks so no I will let him retire on my team instead of just giving him away for nothing. Thanks anyway.

EDIT: You're right, there's only one in my offer. I meant to offer two. My bad.

I'm sorry if you feel like 2nd rounders are "nothing". They definitely have value. Look at my farm system.

prett much all your good specs were 1st rounders... except Hambry. He's great. clear proof that late 2nds can be good picks

I said farm system, not my minors - as in, an overall view, not just a current screenshot. Look at what I've produced - though you already make an excellent example with Hamby. Stewart, Bracken, Sanford, Johnson, Wilson, Kretlow, and Vasbinder were all 2nd round or later. That's not including the prospects I've drafted and traded for even more talent, because I drafted quality in those later rounds instead of saying "Oh, these picks don't matter".

I've got even better examples in another league, because the majority in that league believe that 2nd rounders suck. Then I laugh as they win MVP's, CY's, and get unanimously inducted into the HoF.

As for TOR? Your own Walter Johnson was drafted at 27.
