Not even a peep...

Carrlos Nordbrook is on a pace to hit 60 HR and knock in almost 150 RBI, with an average in the mid .260's and not even in the top 5 for MVP consideration? Yikes.

His AVG and OBP are what is killing him. MVP votes are based around +/- .300 AVG and .400 OBP.
I wouldn't vote for him, either. Though the power is nice, I hate players like that (Carlos Pena, get off my Rays!). If he doesn't go yard, he's pretty much useless in that AB. He's not even leading in SLG% either haha.

Also a pretty big factor in the MVP formula is where your team is in the standings.
Also if he does pass 50 HR and/or 140 RBI he'll get bonus MVP points (Monster Stat Bonus) but not until he reaches these benchmarks, so don't count him out yet.

C'mon with "he is isn't even leading in SLG... he is second barely.
It isn't like he is hitting .200 with Rob Deer like stats. And where my team is in the standings should have nothing to do with things now, and even if it did... 2 games back of the wild card? And you think that should hurt him? Hell if I could figure out a way to beat you (even just invert the records) Tim I would be in first place.

He actually gets a bonus for every place DET comes in ahead of where they were last year. So the standings work in his favor.
It really is just as simple is he's a good HR hitter, and that's it.

I'll take a hit on that SLG to get a bump in that OBP...

His job is to feast... not set the table.
6th in the AL in hits as of this morning and hitting .272.
I equate SD's MVP formula to the way the BCS formula treats the SEC. 3rd or fourth best player on your team, thats alright we will still call you best in the land.
Look I have had the formula work in my favor before and still thrown the BS flag on it. For starters, if you dont have enough AB to qualify for a batting title or make the All-Star team, you certainly should not be an MVP candidate. I have seen both of those things happen... together.

Nobody is denying his HR's aren't impressive. But the MVP takes the total package into consideration (or tries to...).
If his OBP was 40-50 points higher, I think you'd have a much more solid case as to him being burnt. But I have never seen an OBP so low that won an MVP.
I wholeheartedly agree that the MVP votes in SD are horrid (Elmer Lea never won one, okay SD...), but them's the breaks.
NOTE: He's now 4th, by the way.

Yup he got his peep. I wasn't arguing he should be first, but simply deserved to be in the top 5.

Well he is in the top 5 now anyway.
Also what's up with this?
"You get a Defensive position bonus SS(190), C(185), 2B(130), RF(140), 3B(30), CF(30)" So LFs are at a disadvantage to everyone else? Why?

LF is typically one of your weakest fielders. You can get away with a much weaker arm than say, CF or RF.
I am not a fan of the position bonuses at all, either, but they've been in the voting system for such a long time I think of them as an afterthought, really.
1B also doesn't get a defensive bonus.

I tend to move my best hitters to ss and rf during their minor league time just because of that defensive position bonus.
