The 1998 season has begun for the LA Dodgers and we were able to win the first of 4 season-series in Cincinnati against the Redcats 2 to 1 games.

The best player so far was definitely 1st Baseman Neifi Romonosky, who has hit a NL leading 8 hits including NL leading 3 HRs.

Not the worst start for a new manager ;)

Now the Dodgers are heading back home for a series against the Brooklyn Blues (1-2) and the St. Louis Browns (2-1).

Second series win for the Dodgers, beat Brooklyn 2-1 and are now in 3rd place in the NL and just 1 game behind the leading Cubs!

Just as feared our #5 starter Howard Murf is the weak spot in our pitching lineup, and becomes the first target in eventual trade talks early in the season. How was pulled after only 3 innings in game 2 against the Blues, collecting 10 hits and 5 earned runs.

Still the NLs best hitter is Neifi Romonosky with an .536 average and 15 hits.

The first series against the St. Louis Browns also went to the Dodgers, also 2-1. Despite losing the first game 2-6 we were able to bounce back and win the remaining two rather closer 4-2 and 2-1.

THE highlight surely was Game 2 where #3 Starter Ben Johnson threw a real gem, going 8 innings, 0 ER and just 2 hits!

Because of the last 2 wins the Dodgers were able to secure 1st place tied with the Cubs in the NL.

And just because of this fact the next 3 games will be that much more important:

The Dodgers are going to Chicago to play the Cubs for 3 games ... and the league lead!

Now what about you and your teams?
How's your season so far? Any highlights? Any trends? Let us know! ;)

Shakey start of the season from the sharks, but 4 wins in a row we now sit in 1st and now chasing that 5th WS in a row.

The Dodgers lost their first series, 1-2 to the Cubs. But all 3 games have been nailbiters:
Game 1: VERY close 2-1 victory because of a great performance of Pep Laudner (8 IP, 4H, 1ER).
Game 2: Took the lead in the top of the 8th, lost it in the bottom, lost the game.
Game 3: Tied till the 8th, lost the game on 2 runs 4-2.

Then the Milwaukee Megabucks came to Los Angeles ... the Dodgers were able to capture Game 1 and 2. Game 1 saw the second outstanding performance of SP Ben Johnson in a row ... this time 8 IP, 3H, 1ER. Now he's 16 IP, 5 H and 1 ER over the course of 2 games.

Game 3 against the Megabucks was tied until the top of the 9th ... when Milwaukee sank the Dodgers with a walk, 2 singles and a double.

Now the Dodgers are off to Miami to play the last place Yams (lost 5 in a row) ... before going to San Diego to play the first place Shark. Gonna be 2 very interessting series!

The Crusade is off to a good start but we've had HF advantage against the top teams. So now we'll see how we do this swing through with them having HF advantage.

So, 25 games are in the books ... and it seems like the 2 leagues are splitting up:

In the NL 4 teams are over .500, 4 teams under.
In the AL only 2 teams are over .500, the defending AL-champs Detroit and the league-leading New York Crusade.

The Dodgers are in 4th place in the NL and will try to keep near the top 3 teams Sharks, Cubs and Browns.

We just won the 1st game of a 3 game series in Brooklyn 5-1 and are now 5-1 over the course of the last 6 games.
No series sweep so far!
