Upcoming changes to football
July 12, 2012 at 08:33PM View BBCode
The following changes will be installed in Sim Dynasty Football this weekend:
MAJOR CHANGES:
- Advanced strategies are now available.
You now have the ability to add custom strategies for any situation on the field. In addition, you can use these advanced strategies to specify situations where you want to go for it on 4th down.
- Players must now clear waivers before they can be claimed.
Players who have been waived must now clear waivers, giving all teams a chance to put in a waiver claim. The waiver period expires when the player has spent one full week on waivers (from the end of one game to the end of the next game). Waiver priority is reset every other week; from week 4 on it is in the reverse of the standings order, before week 4 it is the same as the draft order (1961 on in Premium leagues) or the reverse of the Round 1 (QB) draft order (1960, all leagues). As soon as a successful claim is made, your team goes to the back of the priority order; claims are processed in the order you placed them. (NOTE: Premium leagues can specify the number of weeks to clear waivers or disable this feature.)
- The Sim Bowl will now be held in a neutral location, specifically the neutral location with the best weather. (NOTE: Premium leagues have a couple of options for implementing this feature, or may disable it.)
OTHER CHANGES:
- Fixed the clock status after a penalty to be more in line with NFL rules
- Added Age (at the offseason) to the improvement report.
- Fixed a bug that caused some returns on long punts to be too long.
- Salaries have been slightly adjusted to match reality.
- CB, T, TE, DE, LB, S, and P will now convert improvements a bit better.
- Increased success rate for Attitude improvements.
- Adjusted rain chance for high rainfall cities so they aren't rained on too often.
- Added circumstances in which the defense will accept a penalty on 3rd down
- A Franchise History page is now available.
- A Postseason History page is now available.
- The League Navigation tab bar now appears on the Roster page.
- You can now view college players by class rather than just by college. Since these lists are quite long you can also narrow them down by position.
- You can now view past college drafts even after the current draft list has been populated.
- The Draft Center menu option has been renamed to Initial Draft.
- A bug that occasionally caused the standings to display incorrectly after a tie has been fixed.
- A bug that occasionally prevented single-season leagues from starting, claiming they had fewer teams than they actually did, has been fixed.
- When picking up players from the wire who have already cleared waivers, you can go up to 1 player over the roster limit and up to 2% (2560) over the cap. Claiming a player takes you right to the roster page and shows the usual warnings if you are over, so you can bring your roster into compliance.

I'm glad to finally see some improvements to the game but I'm not sure I like the less rainfall in high rainfall places. I put one of my teams in Portland exactly
for the rainfall to help slow down my opponents' passing attacks. It seems like I don't get as much rain as I should already.

Portland is not affected. The problem is in hurricane-prone cities, where the rainfall data I have is skewed by hurricane data. It will not affect cities outside of the Southeast and some Atlantic cities.

Wow! These are fantastic! Several of them are changes I've been hoping for. Great work!

I'm both happy and sad.
Happy because I can't wait to get my hands on the new improved situational play calling. That is going to be a huge deal for all the teams.
Sad because I'm elbow deep in alligators at work. (ie 3 major projects going on at once) and I'm not going to have the team to really dig into it this week.
Thanks for the good work to the entire Sim Dynasty team.

One additional change:
- When picking up players from the wire who have already cleared waivers, you can go up to 1 player over the roster limit and up to 2% (2560) over the cap. Claiming a player takes you right to the roster page and shows the usual warnings if you are over, so you can bring your roster into compliance.

Finally some wiggle room. It gets annoying when you forget how the system works now and are forced to go back to your roster from the waiver wire to let a player go to make room.
