well he's walking almost as many - and maybe the batters get tired of hitting and want the game to end and it's the only way to get out against him

What a season, 144 K's in 78.2 innings, with an ERA of about 40. And a whip of 5.81. And he somehow managed to pick up one of Toronto's 15 wins.
