I'm not going to go through the whole 1st round, just some highlights and observations on my own selections. This was another strong defensive draft, only one of my top 10 and four of my top 20 players were offensive players.

The first pick was Maxie Green and wile he's a great talent I had him downgraded to #4 on my list because his rookie salary is already $4468 so he'll price himself out of my team too quickly. The sad part with Maxie is we may never know how he'll turn out since he may not even get activated in Cleveland.

Players I saw as good value in round one were: Hayes, Brookins and Nelson while I felt Gray was a big reach at #3, I know need enters in but I don't think Gray warranted a #3 overall selection.

I was surprised to see kickers go in the top 40 as well, there are currently 15 red letter kickers on the waiver wire so using a pick seemed odd to me but c'est la vie.

Overall New Orleans draft worked out reasonably well, we are hamstrung by cap issues so contracts are important for us when ranking. We got four of our top 22 players and filled need situations at RB, FB and got major talent for the defensive backfield.

I was very pleasantly surprised to acquire Paul Gorman near the end of round three, although he is not cheap he's our new starting FB. While Gorman is the only immediate starter for New Orleans from this draft we have added some great talent that will, hopefully, bear fruit in the next year or two . I also kept alive the New Orleans tradition of drafting a player who redefines "low potential" in Andre Crenshaw, he'll fit in well with Winnie Riggs .
