This should have been a safety from the sound of it
NO 12 4th and 9 for the Big Easy, they huddle and line up in a Punt Tight Wing; the Julieths line up in a Punt Return.
Craig Brown takes the long snap.
The punt by Craig Brown is blocked by Charley Schmitz.
Ryan Schultz recovers the ball for the Big Easy in the end zone.
05:51. NYA 1/G NO 1 1st and goal for the Julieths, they huddle and line up in a Pro Set; the Big Easy line up in a 4-3.
Brad Burrow takes the snap, hands off to Ian Soltau.
Ian Soltau runs up the left for no gain.
Touchdown for the New York Julieths!
John Cronin prepares to kick the extra point for New York, Brad Burrow holding.
Burrow's hold is good.
Extra point kick by John Cronin is good.

Yes, if the punting team recovered in their end zone, I believe you are right about a safety.
I can't imagine how the other team would get 1st-G at the 1. That doesn't sound right.

This is from NCAA rulebook:
"A scrimmage kick fails to cross the neutral zone, or crosses the
neutral zone and is first touched by Team B, or is untouched and
then rebounds into the end zone, where it is declared dead in Team
A?s possession. RULING: Safety (Rule 8-7-2-a)."
Sounds to me like a blocked punt recovered by kicking team in its own EZ.

The offense recovers to save the safety and prevent the TD.
Sounds like the julieths were on the 1 inch line; no gain [1 inch gain] for a TD.

It does give me an idea. Ive blocked a few punts and have been working with it on the personel side, trying to find guys that will do it. It would be great to have a specific Punt Block set. Now, there should be a downside too, roughing the punter, that knid of thing, but it would be great to have guys (like Gunners) that can play special teams well and sets to use them in.

Something obviously went wrong here a couple of different ways. I'll check it out.
