A little note to Chris

Looking over the board today I'm struck by the fact that most of our posts are negative, or at least stressing flaws in the SIM.

I realize that essentially that is our role as beta testers but I still thought: Man it must be tough for Chris to read this every day

So let me just say that although I generally post/vent on my frustrations and perceived flaws in the SIm I am truly amazed at how much progress you have made, and are continuing to make.

Congratulations on your accomplishments and god luck with the progress of the game.

Agreed. That's the reason I joined a premium league. There are a number of football sim sites out there but basically it's the dedication from Chris that made me choose this one. It makes a big difference.

This is the most accurate/promising/accessible sim I have ever found--I wouldn't spend my time making all these "negative criticisms" if I didn't think it was worth it! Thanks Chris!

Thank you all, I appreciate it! Constructive criticism, however, is amazingly valuable. Sometimes something does get me down, especially when something I carefully designed isn't received well. But Tyson taught me a very valuable lesson, and that is that your customers will tell you exactly the kind of game they want to play, if you listen. The best design in the world can't overcome a customer's desire for something else, and it's better to give them what they want than to try to make them want what you want. (Obviously there has to be a balance there; people may want more improvement but if everyone ends up at A+ in everything there's no game.)

I need to be shown the flaws because if the code made it off my dev server and onto Beta, that means I didn't think they were flaws in the first place. I may not always change them, but at least I'll have to justify to myself, and to you, why they are there. Sometimes the act of putting that justification into words is enough to light the way to a solution that I perhaps had not yet considered.

I think some game designers get so enamored of their designs that taking criticism and using it constructively goes against their grain, and that gets you rigid games that become less than fun to play. It is definitely not a profession for the thin-skinned.

But I do thank you. This game is my baby, I've gambled everything on making it a success, and I know that anything you felt was important enough to put into a post deserves careful consideration no mater how I may "feel" about it.

This is already an excellent game, far better than anything else available on the internet, and you continue to improve it on a daily basis. Great work, Chris!
