So in this one Philadelphia gets
Dave Newmann who is an OS29 SP with B/A- attributes. He's a solid starter, probably end of the rotation on most good teams. He should be a little better than he's shown to date. Typically this type of pitcher would go in a deal with other players. Its rare to find someone like this going for just picks but if I were to assign a pick value here it would be a late first rounder which is based as much on his age as in his abilities. This however can vary depending upon the availability of pitching in certain leagues.
In return Boston gets
Philadelphia's next 2 first round picks. Looking at the Philadelphia roster they look to be solid this year with a roster littered with red letters. I'd expect them to be a playoff contender meaning that this pick should be late round.
2 playoff firsts is probably more than I would pay here but that certainly isn't the standard for overturning a trade. In the absence of any collusion between the parties which I don't suspect, I would overturn in cases where there is a gross difference in the perceived value and the actual trade. Here I disagree a bit with the value given but could make viable arguments in favor of either side and as such find that the trade should stand IMO.
