i could almost guarantee it.

(not that this guy wasn't bad. it's just that i'm sure someone in the OGL or HCL blew that guy out of the water.)

That kind of suckiness is really just child's play. Very amateurish actually.

im sure plenty of guys in the OGL were worse, but this is actually supposed to be a competitive league.

since you were never in the OGL, i think i can safely assert that you have no idea how competetive it was. regardless, the question you asked was not "has anyone not in the OGL ever done worse", so it's really a moot point. besides, the HCL would presumably pass your "competitive" standard and i would almost guarantee that at least one guy on that 0-162 team was worse.

Paul, I can find a half dozen guys, like that or worse, fairly quickly from my leagues. In leagues w/o loss penalties, there's almost always an owner who slips in the C+ overall starter for a bunch of starts to help guarantee a top pick.

since there were millions of posts about how ridiculous the OGL was, i think i can safely assert that i do have some idea of how competitive it was, i have an idea about how worthless players were used in the interests of experimentation instead of competitiveness.

nobody should have to include the "except for the OGL" qualifier when asking questions like this, it should be assumed that whoever asks something like this is talking about leagues with 16 teams interested in winning.

it was one of the most highly competitive leagues at one time, lots of trading and the most active forum on the site, and you had to trade your best prospects away to get the best players to even get close to winning. toward the end, we tried to do some different things, like trying to get a team to win all 162 games. this is terrifically hard to do, it lost three games in its best season. losing 162 is surprisingly easy.

(and truly, there is no such thing as league, anywhere, where all 16 teams are interested in winning in a given season. somebody is always intersted in losing. they call it rebuilding. but its losing. on purpose.)

of course that's true, but winning is still the goal, be it this season or some future season.

Once upon a time, the OGL league was highly competitive with 16 rock solid owners...I was lucky enough to be involved in the tail end of that competitive spirit...The aftermath was pretty ugly though...

The 0-162 2001 San Diego franchise in the HCL would have several players that were worse.

if you knew even half of what you think you do, you would be supremely well-informed.

Oh, come on, towards the end of the OGL, that guy would have been an ace on one of the bottom-feeder teams.

I think I still have the screencap of when we got the league to freeze in the playoffs somewhere on this computer.
