Why are they keyed in ?

September 12, 2011 at 06:40PM View BBCode

On the opening drive of [url=http://footballbeta.simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=5062&thid=497]this game[/url] Washington opens in the I for the first three plays, a pass and two runs. Then we switch to a run out of the pro set and on the next play, in the pro set, NY "Keys in".

I'm confused as to how the defense would "key in" given this scenario .

I have a question about that as well. I have "End Run" selected with a 27% probability on 3rd and Medium, and yet I had two instances in the first half against HOU that we tried to run it against a keyed in defense on 3rd and medium. My understanding is that if a play is going to be keyed against, the offense gets 3 more chances to pick a different play. I realize that it is possible for an "End Run" to be selected there, but it is so unlikely as to be mathematically absurd that it occured twice in the same half.

Rooster, I'm pretty sure that it just looks at whether 3 of the past 5 plays were "middle" or "end" runs. I don't think that the formation matters at all.

That is correct. Because of that it's much more likely to happen on runs sinnce there are only two options, but the results of being "keyed" against a run aren't as dramatic as being keyed against a pass.

I'll look to make sure there isn't a bug here.

The sequence went: pass, run left, run middle, run middle, "Keyed In"

There was a False Start penalty on one of the prior plays that halted the play. Whatever that play was going to be is added to the list of "recent plays", which is a bug since the play never started. I'll need to fix that.

Very subtle bug, thanks for helping me find it!
