This was with a minute to play and NY leading by 7.
1st and goal for the Wolverines, they line up in a Pro Set; the Julieths line up in a 4-3.
Herb Moseley takes the snap, hands off to Jim Secord.
Secord fumbles the ball in the end zone.
Les Curry recovers the ball for the Julieths in the end zone.
Touchdown for the Michigan Wolverines!
Dave McGirl prepares to kick the extra point for Michigan, Jaret McLean holding.
McLean's hold is good.
Extra point kick by Dave McGirl is good.

If you fumble in the end zone, it means you already crossed the plane.
I think I've seen this before, and for some reason it still is trying to figure out the recovery, but it's all post-touchdown so it doesn't matter.
My guess is that the system always calculates the distance of the play, so even after the guy crossed the plane and scored, the system is still measuring how far the run went.

redcped is correct. The play-by-play is confusing because it describes the actual action on the field, but the fumble and recovery should just be left out of the play-by-play for clarity. It's on my bug list but at a low priority so I haven't been working on it actively.
