No Relief

Just signed up and checking out the game. Seems pretty cool, but I noticed something in my last game. I have it set to have little patience with tired pitchers, yet in my last game, my starter was clearly gassed in the 8th inning and the game would not bring in a relief pitcher even after the starter gave up like 9 hits in a row and my bullpen was completely rested. Is this a common problem?
