The Long and Short of it

Unless I am mistaken, the settings for LONG and SHORT are used to define the yardage needed for a 1st down as well as the length for a pass play.
This doesn't make sense at all.
When it's third and SHORT, that means less than 2 yards. When it's third and LONG, that usually means more than 7 yards.
However, when throwing a SHORT pass that usually means less than 5 yards while a LONG pass (aka, "going deep") usually means putting it up 20+ yards.
These settings should be separate and distinct so the play calling is more realistic.

I couldn't agree more. I find myself often wanting to change the settings for medium and long passes, then stop because it would throw my down and yardages decisions completely out of whack.

I'm pretty sure that more detailed coaching strategies are in the pipeline for later..
