I just had this come up in my game....
00:27. SD --- LAN 30 Los Angeles lines up for the kickoff.
Ralph Lawler kicks off for the Clipper Nation.
Kick hang time: 3.40 seconds.
The ball is caught at the SD 6 by John Jefferson.
Jefferson breaks a tackle at the SD 30.
John Jefferson returns the kick to the SD 39.
00:09 SD 1/10 SD 39 1st and 10 for the Pointers, they line up in a Pro Set; the Clipper Nation line up in a 4-3.
Time expires before the snap.
00:00 SD --- SD 39 End of 3rd quarter.
San Diego Pointers 21, Los Angeles Clipper Nation 17
=====================================
As you can see he scored and then kicked to me I ran it to the 39 and set up for my possession....Seeing as it was 1st down after a change of possession I should have been able to run 1 play before clock runs out and it just started the clock and ran time out...
Minor issue I thought I would let you know about....

The clock is restarted after a kickoff return except in the last two minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half. See http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/timing .

Chris here are the rules based on the page you provided in the other thread.
"Clock will start running when ball is snapped following all changes of team possession."
"With the exception of the last two minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half, the game clock will be restarted following a kickoff return, a player going out of bounds on a play from scrimmage, or after declined penalties when appropriate on the referee?s signal."
The first one clearly states the clock starts running on the snap of the next play.
The second states that the game clock will be restarted on the referee's signal.

chris, i think you're misunderstanding. The kickoff return ended at 00:09. If AFE says "00:09 SD 1/10 SD 39 1st and 10 for the Pointers" the clock needs to be stopped at 00:09. but it wasn't. Time expired before they could get the play off.
