As I was watching the play by play box score in my first game, it seemed like there was an additional line that kept repeating over and over that was not needed.

Here is one of the play by plays in my first game -

1st and 15 for the Jacksters, they line up in a I Formation; the Lawdogs line up in a 4-3.
Bam Lott takes the snap and drops back into the pocket.
Lott is under pressure.
Lott passes to Cleve Pendergrass at the MIN 20.
The ball is dropped at the MIN 20 by Cleve Pendergrass.
Pass by Bam Lott intended for Cleve Pendergrass is incomplete.

It seems to me that the last line "Pass by Bam Lott intended for Cleve Pendergrass is incomplete" could be left out?

We were already told that the "ball is dropped at the MIN 20 by Cleve Perdergrass"

Well, that's the end result line, the one line summary of the entire play. So on a completed pass, it would tell you that it was complete, and for how many yards total the play went. It does look rather silly there, on an incomplete pass where the line right before it told you it was dropped, but it is needed everywhere else.

To expand on what Tutori said: Each line has a "display level" associated with it. The final summary line is what you would normally see in a box score, and so it and other critical information has a display level that makes it show up on the box score page by default. The supporting details are necessary to describe how a play unfolded and are displayed in Dynasty Vision, and can be seen in the box score by expanding the play details. So there is some slight repetition of data; hopefully it's not too distracting.
