Trade Vote
January 26, 2011 at 06:26PM View BBCode
We have received 3 complaints on this trade:
A trade has been completed between the Minnesota Devil Dinosaurs and the New York Gothams. The New York Gothams receive Duke Mann, Draft Pick - 1987 Round 1 (NYN) from the Minnesota Devil Dinosaurs in exchange for Clint Moore.

Starting sometime today or tomorrow on the game side at www.simdynasty.com, you should see a red link or popup window asking for your opinion. If 66% of the owners who vote, vote to overturn, we will reverse the trade. Owners involved in the trade are not eligible to vote. We will allow all owners at least 3 days to vote.
In the event that there are draft picks involved, the draft runs before voting concludes, and the trade is reversed, we will clone players to make things right for the two owners involved.
See this thread for info on this process:
http://www.simdynasty.com/oldforum-viewthread.jsp?tid=146616
We will also included a 3rd parties unbiased opinion of the deal. This is from an experienced owner, who only looked at the trade itself and has no knowledge of who owns the teams. I have asked him to post that here when he gets a minute. The reason we ask him to give an opinion is because of past complaints in other trade protest proceedings where owners felt that someone should give an unbiased opinion of the deal. Of course, I don't want to become entangled in these kind of league matters myself so that's why we bring in an outsider to give an opinion. You can do whatever you like with his opinion.
I also ask that you refrain from publicly discussing the trade. Nothing good ever comes of those discussions. Public discussion of the trade may result in you losing your posting privileges.
If either of the owners involved in the trade would like their comments attached to this thread, please post a private note in Support.
Thanks,
Tyson

OK campers, you know the drill. Lets see what we have here
Minnesota gets
Clint Moore an OS29 B/A C+/A+ infielder (2B/SS/1B). He's a solid platoon/back up guy in the infield hitting lefties much better than righties (has almost as many HRs vs lHp as rHp in 1/2 the at bats). He's OK vs righties but probably not enough to hold down a full time position. He's also fairly done improving.
New York gets
1st round pick (probably in the higher range but not at the top. look for somewhere around 5 +/- 3)
Duke Mann an OS25 with C-/A- C+/A attributes. He's not quite as good as Ward and likely won't get there in the next three years either. Mostly a marginal back up type in the infield.
Neither of the players is a world beater, NY gets a few extra years while Min gets the better player. Is the difference worth that 1st round pick, I'm doubtful that it is. I'd say a 2nd would be reasonable but the 1st-since I expect it to be higher based on Min's pitching rotation is too much.

It should be noted that the draft pick involved is the NYN 1st round pick, not Minnesota's original pick. I only note this as it seems Barterer2002 is assuming the pick is Minnesota's based on his reply above.

The purpose of overriding a trade is if two players intentionally try to make a lopsided deal benefiting one player substantially.
The only thing that happened here is one guy made a bad deal. I can't believe this even got this far.

I have to agree with the above posters. The draft pick involved should be near the bottom of the round, not around pick #5. This may not be an even deal, but it's far from lopsided.

Sorry, I read that wrong on the pick. End of first round is probably a little much but nothing too bad. A playoff pick vs. a top of the second round (which is where I was saying it should be) is close enough for me. I still think its overpayment but many trades are overpayments for one side or another. That being the case its not really that bad.
I apologize for reading it as the Minn pick and not looking to see it was the NY and would be an end of the round pick.

I hope my post wasn't taken as complaining, Barterer2002 :) This type of task is probably a pretty thankless one anyway so it's appreciated.
It should be noted I have no vested interest in this trade - I only spoke up because it appeared a material fact regarding the trade was misunderstood so to get an accurate opinion (Barterer2002 is more than qualified in my mind to offer such) he needed accurate information. That was my only intent.
Since I piped up and feel like I look guilty lol I feel obligated to mention I did not raise issue with this trade (I have no problem with whoever did. There's a logical system in place to rectify these issues and it's an owners right to protest if they feel inclined). It's not my place to offer my opinion on the trade so I hope no one thought I was trying to hedge voting one way or the other with my response above.
That being said I sure HOPE my 1st round pick is a playoff pick lol but the National league is tough this year. Milwaukee looks to be the class of the league with Pittsburgh off to a surprising start. Philly is tough again this year and we remember the Scotties huge run last year. I'm sure not a lock to be a playoff pick with the dormant bats so far on the Americans so far. Nothing like making a big trade and then getting swept at home by the last place team the next day - not exactly the reassurance I was looking for lol throw in Minnesota's improbable start and who knows - maybe his pick woulda been better than mine! Long way to go yet. Good luck the rest of the way!

I didn't read your post that way at all Bayside. The discrepancy needed to be pointed out, even though in the scheme of things where that pick was isn't really that big a deal.
The only reason I piped in is that it certainly looks like there may be some misconception about just what a trade protest is supposed to be. We're not here to protect other players from making bad deals. Protests should be rare...you know collusion when you see it.
As long as I'm at it :)....I totally disagree with Admin's position that these things shouldn't be discussed. These situations affect the entire league and all the team owners in it. Not only should it be discussed, it needs to be discussed.

Hi All, no trade comments please. I've been through 100s of these and I've never seen a well-thought out argument by one league member change another's opinion. All it does is create more issues.
Thanks!

We've had 11 people vote. 5 have voted to overturn, 6 voted to let it stand. Even if the other 3 voted to overturn, it would fall short of the 66% so the trade will stand.
