The Cleveland Situation

December 19, 2010 at 05:12PM View BBCode

I know this is beta but this is nuts.

Bidding $37 million a year for Meyer, over $30 million a year for Estalella, trading 3 pieces of fluff to another betauser team in return for an ace, acquiring the #1 overall pick in the past draft for a questionable prospect and a 5th round draft pick ?

The team salary is currently $19 million over the cap with $112 million in free agent bids still on the table. This is bad trial league theatre, please stop it

I removed the bids, a couple of times. While Cleveland is clearly the worst offender, also note Chicago proposed an 8 years, $69mil a year contract for Bramhall (which despite fitting under the signing cap, he decided not to take).

The bids are crazy enough but the trades are in worse as they are an integrity issue.

Very sorry about what happened. I will reverse the Etherton and Ronan trades as soon as I get more guys from waivers (I only have 24 total players) and as soon as Ronan clears waivers. It will not happen again. I will also reconsider the bidding from this point forward. Once again, sorry.

You should not be able to waive a player you signed and get salary relief unless the players are claimed. The only way to get salary relief should be to have waived players claimed, to waive non-guaranteed contracts or to trade players.

The problem is that the players being waived and not claimed off waivers will then become free agents, and not be competitively bid upon, which has an unfair impact upon the rest of the league.

Cleveland should cancel all its outstanding bids and fill the rest of the team via what's left in free agency. Don't allow your error to continue to harm gameplay for the rest of the league.

Ok I've had enough of this. I'm not going to put time and effort into this league if people are just going to screw around and do stupid things that are not geared towards testing something.

Whoever is running the betauser team into the ground, please stop this.

Is it time to remove the ability to adjust salary limit?

Or at least limit the total to 0.5M.

Also, limit the salary able to be optioned to a lesser amount
(say 1.5M or so).

whats the problem? there is still stuff to buy that is helpful, and you still got 15.9 in cap room. go crazy. spend that imaginary money.

THOSE FAKE PLAYERS NEED SOME LOVE WHEN THEY'RE OLD.

(i mean, come on. look at what jeter, a rod, jason werth, etc are getting when they're 39. money is the fountain of youth, you have to pay that out if you want them old players to be awesome. i paid ed bird 14 millon when he was b+, and that made him carry a sub three run era the following season for another team when it made half a million. because that is what that money does, sometimes, it takes a year for it to kick in. did i mention the american league is awful? it is, the american league is awful. still much better than my team now, yesterday, tomorrow and always. but truly, when a b+ pitcher carries an era like that, on that many innings, it isn't luck. its suck, the hitters, they suck. they really do.)
