I'm going start calling KC San Fransicso East.
Over the last few seasons I'm lost at least 6 'key' hitters to FA... almost every one went to Kansas City.
Off the top of my head: Lost Tom Williams this year to KC.
Last year it was Batchelder and Westlake, Before that is was Adlesh (who I just got back). Before that it was Ownie McClosky.
HOBO must have some sort of jedi mindtrick going on to get my guys over there.

Hobos really understands the number of years to offer to maximize his bid offers, plus of course he seriously overpaid for Williams IMO but that's a whole other story .
I kept Snodgrass from KC though, despite their carpetbagger offer of $6.5 million for one year Bruno chose the comforts of home, and an extra year on the deal, and stayed in Detroit for $5.4 million per year.

oh jesus christ, ten million? there are any number of hitters that do what that thing can do that are getting nothing, compartively.

It is kind of fun though tm to give huge some of fake money to fake players, even when other fake players are available for less.
I just can't make myself do it though, there has never been a $10 million player in Detroit. I gave Gervais $9 million for one year and he was decidedly mediocre .

you must be doing something right. i can try to figure out how to do it better starting next season i guess. my team has the ugliest contract in the league, no doubt.

C'mon, after his one mediocre year in Detroit Gervais got $11 million a year to go to Cleveland, at least you got four prime years out of Bird, or were you referring to someone else ?.

your awesomes offer does actually make sense. i am still kind of thinking about it. you might have guessed, endurance is not really a thing i prize in starting pitchers, the way i use them c plus is about as good as b plus. i am a little skeptical of what that thing will give me.
(only a little skeptical, mind you. it should be altogether similar to the moose. but it does make sense in that, i believe i get that thing for next year if i swap with you, right?)

good god, pittsburgh has seven pitchers on the FA list.
(here is the funny part, they will all be declining next season, so they will all be worse than they are now, in varying degrees. but i promise the group of them will get more, collectively than the combined 29 million or so they make now. and they all suck. let us not forget, they suck, every damn one of them. suck.)

poor hammy. he gets one more season after this out of his pitcher, then hobos will give it 16.5 million. and still, somehow, have a lineup that can hit a little bit. he is a magic man.

He is signed, very reasonably I might add, through the 1959 season . I'm trying to take one more shot before my team goes to the old age home.

Forget it, you waited too long, the media got a hold of the thing and the backlash against trading away Heitmann got way crazy. Who knew he was a folk hero ??
The Moose is officially dead to me .

sad face.
(i have been kind of hitting and running on thing here. if i didn't have so many things to replace next season, ironically, i probably would have taken the thing. but having to replace like seven or something, just adding one for next season now doesn't do much to change the arithmetic next season. maybe lowery will close the league down. i am out of ideas. no way i can sign up six or seven decent pitchers, i mean, its out of the question. the hobos will sign every one that can pitch at all.)

Just sign relievers, they go begging, I got this and thisfor spare change.
The key to this league, IMO, is sign good high endurance relievers and old hitters . I've got the 3rd highest win total since 1951 and I've never paid more than $9 million for any player , and that was turdy Gervais .

That's what you get for stealing a player...

Gervais was with NYN before becoming a FA. Through a backchannel, we told him to bid up the price with Detroit, which he happily obliged.
