All Star voting

It seems like every year I have a guy that is getting cheated. Steve Kemp leads the AL in AVG & OBP and is not on the All-Star team. Looking at the other guys, I don't think he should make it as a starter, but I do think he should make the team.

Anyone else have a player they think should be on the team? :puzzled:

I feel my team was treated fairly. But I'd like to point out the amazing success of Pierzynksi's squad in Chicago - 6 of the 9 all-star starters, and currently has the top 3 vote-getters for AL MVP. Unreal!

And I'll add that I think Steve Kemp didn't make the all-star lineup because of his lack of power numbers. He is having an excellent season, but coming into 8/25, Mickey Mays leads him by 68 points on OPS...and let's face it, you gotta take Mays every time in that case.

I agree that the All Star team is a sticky issue that everyone seems to go around and around on all the time in Sim D.
Take Richard Rahl in 1982. He dominated the league and got left off the top 5 in MVP voting. It was totally bogus. But unfortunately we don't get to vote on the All Stars and ABE gets to make up the teams going on pure mathematical formulas.

This is the formula if anyone wants it
For position players, all star votes are calculated using this formula: RBIs + Total Bases + Runs + Walks + SBs - (SO *.25) - (CS * 2) - Errors - (AB / 8)
For pitchers, this formula is used: CG * 5 + Shutouts * 5 + No Hitters * 10 + Wins * 10 - Losses * 5 - Earned Runs * 2 - Hits - Walks + Strikeouts - HBP + IP * 3 + Saves * 5

In the past - I have felt my players were overlooked at times due to where they played in the outfield. My outfielders, Giemke in particular, will play anywhere in the outfield, but where slotted by ABE into one spot.

So for a while, Giemke was always behind Mays in right field because it was his 100% position, even though he spent more time in left or center.

But, I also thought about it more when I was not doing well in the standings.

Hmmm . . . like I said initially, "I don't think he (Kemp) should make it as a starter, but I do think he should make the team." I definately think that the starting outfield is correct. I am just saying that most guys that lead their leauge in Batting Average usually make the All-Star team. ABE's formula isn't perfect, but it is close enough.
