How can I tell available players for expansion draft to help me with my settings.
Anyone ever done an expansion draft pointers are welcomed (and will be remembered come trade time)

I will be Taking over the New York National Team, This will be my first full season, ran a little test at free league. I'm sure it will take me a while to get everything down. But I have played other baseball sims and am an avid fantasy player. So I promise to be somewhat competetive (hopefully a little talent will help)How can I tell available players for expansion draft to help me with my settings.

Basically just remember the old power before contact, control before velocity thought process. Realize that most of those teams were in the bottom half of their divisions and were trying to rebuild. If you work it right, you could end up with a talented young team that will compete seriously in the next year or two, leaving the scraps for the others.
While I will be celebrating my first SD anniversary this week, I myself will be having my first expansion draft in another league this offseason, so take my advice as a general help.

As far as talent for the expansion drafts goes, you can see what players are available by looking at the team depth charts (or roster pages) for those teams in the draft. It looks like Cleveland, Cincinnati, your team (NY NL), and Phillidelphia will be in that draft. Basically set your preferences based on the strengths of the players in those teams. For instance if most of the players on those teams are 26 or younger, then I wouldn't put a lot of points on youth. If no one has contact hitters, don't try to draft any.Basically just remember the old power before contact, control before velocity thought process. welcome. i have two dynasty teams and a private league team. my experience is that it takes a few seasons to get a handle on what kind of team you have.Dave

I am taking over the Philadelphia team as an expansion owner. I got the dynasty dollars to do this solely in single season play (5 seasons of play, one season where I had a very good team and lots of people bet their dynasty dollars so I got lots of them, and lots of voting for simdynasty on the online games sites). I have a team in the short-term beta league and team in the Ron Santo private league. My 2500+ posts are mostly from off-topic.
The team is going to be called the Philadelphia Phitowners.
