Another Salary League (ASL) Schedule

August 20, 2010 at 04:14PM View BBCode

I'll run the Initial Draft around 4PM Eastern today. The first round of signings will happen at 10AM tomorrow. Signings will run at 10AM and 10PM each day until we run into a problem.

lets see how many problems we can create this time

I enterred tons of bids...though I don't know if any of them will break anything. However, it doesn't look like the first day of signings ran at 10 am, so maybe something did go kablooey.

Yeah, that's sort of disappointing.

Sorry, I forgot to update the league date after the draft ran. I'll run the first set of bids right now.

17 signings seems low. I was expecting 30-40 based on the number of bids I made myself.

336 free agents B+ or better and 17 signings is, to say the least, a little disappointing .

Yeah, especially for me, since I was the top bid on about a dozen guys I wanted and none of them signed. Rats.

Yeah, 17 is a bit light. There was bids on 234 distinct players, so you'd expect 23 to sign. Which may also be a bit light.

For the future, I've upped day 1 to be 15% just to get a bit more action.

I'd like to see 1st day action even higher, 20-30% .

This seems to be the norm in the NHL and NFL with tons of guys signing right away plus it makes it easier to prioritize your other bids.

I'm with Roosters.

I think I'd cut the initial free agency period to 5 or 6 days too. There is some antsyness to get started on a new league.

How long is it now? I thought it was only four days, initially.

7 days initially, 4 days for each subsequent year.

Thanks Hammy.

(It looks like we haven't broken anything yet. Perhaps we'll need to try harder.)

Okay, I think I found something:

Per the [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/bidhistory.jsp]bid history[/url], [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=4]Stafford[/url] signed with Pittsburgh for $12 per season over 7 years, while New York bid $13.25 per season over 8 years. This bid would not have put New York over the $100 million free agency period maximum.

Am I interpreting the process incorrectly?

Each team sets their own max rogue. The default if you don't change it is 80 (look on the bottom of your free agent page to see where you are).

Got it...thanks Bart. I just found Tyson's post on max salaries, [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/oldforum-viewthread.jsp?tid=274518]here[/url].

No signings at 10 last night. The bids are still showing from the morning signings.

some have run now (8:19 am) as i signed 2 guys and hadn't entered any bids until 7:30 last night

Well when I look at the show bids page I see lots of TB bids for .6M and I deleted all of those yesterday afternoon. There are no longer any TB .6M bids so since they're showing there is something wrong.

Bart, I think all of those are for players who signed, as opposed to pending bids. I ran my cursor over a lot of those players, and they are with teams now.

Show bids is supposed to show all the bids from the last set of signings. It shouldn't be showing those guys who signed on Day 1 or 2 at this point. I thought T had changed that.

Maybe I misunderstood the issue. I had thought people wanted to see these players, but the adjusted bid number was always getting set to 0. I tried to fix this so that you could see the adjusted bids for these guys:

http://www.simdynasty.com/oldforum-viewthread.jsp?tid=274465

I'll add a filter to this page so you can view signed players, unsigned players, and a few more options.

I don't see the logic behind a player like [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=132]Bourque[/url] taking a 1 year $5 million deal when there is a 2 year $4.3 million per year deal on the table.

I think there has to be some change in logic for players entering decline .

You can see the adjusted bid (aka effective salary) treats that bid that like it was 4.62.

Perhaps this could be changed. My goal for beta testing is primarily mechanics at this point. I'm trusting that the AML came up with good formulas.
