Congrats Atlanta

Another great series between ATL and CIN, despite lasting only 5 games, with no game being decided by more than 2 runs.

Good luck in the WS.

Cincinnati outscored Atlanta by 105 runs in the regular season, gave up 78 less runs, won the head to head battle 16-8 with a 45 run plurality and are gracious in defeat.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, you are a better man than I.

That series was highway robbery, as many of the playoffs are in SIM, but I congratulate you both on making the post season .

I have a theory on that actually...

Obviously all pitchers are less effective against better teams than against poor teams. However, I read somewhere on the boards that high velocity/lower control pitchers (like my top two starters who are A+/B+) suffer from greater decrease in effectiveness against the better teams than do pitchers with better control. I think it has something to do with the better team tending to have higher contact players... the relationship between contact and control is not linear or something.

Maybe I am way out in left field but that it what I will be telling myself as I cry into my beer tonight.

you are correct, griff. that's why cleve whooped my arse all season.

but, the underdog Behemoths, the ones everyone loves, scratched and clawed their way to a 6 game victory.

congrats on a great season, mike!

now, on to get destroyed by atlanta...

That might be viable if Atlanta had a high contact line-up but their line-up vs. RHP features only 4 hitters with red letter contact. It also wouldn't explain your regular season dominance.

The Atlanta line-up vs. LHP is high contact and the only game you won was the one started by your only left handed starter.

You are probably right tworoosters, but like I said, I have to rationalize it somehow.

Atl, as expected, torched every pitcher the Behemoths threw out there.

Congrats!

Wahoo, finally was able to log in after a looooong day of work! Man, it has been a long time, too bad they had to wait till they are a bunch of old fogey's to finally put it all together. Great series and I am definitely happy, especially after last years heartbreaker!
