New Facebook Feature - End of Season Byline

January 19, 2010 at 01:14AM View BBCode

I've added a feature to the Facebook application where your stream will get updated with your team's end of season record, among other things, when the OffSeason code runs.

You just need to approve Sim Dynasty on Facebook to do this. If you visit the application at http://apps.facebook.com/simdynastybaseball/ - click the link that says "Click here to grant Sim Dynasty permission to update your stream."

Let me know if this works for you. My league is still a few days from the OffSeason. I'll likely spruce up the message a bit once we get it to work.

This feature only works in pay leagues at the moment.

I don't see it on your profile Chris, I'll have to check the code.

Chris - you may need to click refresh on that page, I don't have your facebook key that I need to do this update. I'll look to make this automatic today after you click Agree to the security requests.

I did go through the security thing, and I have my JRL team in my side panel on Facebook....

When I go back to look at that page now the security prompts aren't there. My FB ID should be 1321730571.

I have your key in the database now. You need to refresh the index page after you approve the security measures in order for me to get what facebook calls the infinite session key. There's a way to trigger this after the security popups are complete, I'll look to set that up today.

Ok, I think I finally have this working. I put in a fix yesterday which should solve this. Let me know if you see it in your Facebook account.

My OCL team was in the postseason (lost in the ALCS) and is about to hit the offseason so I guess we will know soon :)

OK, got a new byline from Sim Dynasty lasy night:

Chris La Mantia My Sim Dynasty team, the Boston Gearheads in the Jackie Robinson League, finished the 2113 season with a record of 87-75. Think you can do better? Try out Sim Dynasty Baseball for free today at http://www.simdynasty.com/index.jsp?referer=celamantia

Looks pretty good. Only thing I might add is a &s=fb (s for "Source") so you can track where the refeerrer link came from.

You are viewing the raw post code; this allows you to copy a message with BBCode formatting intact.
I just saw this now. The phenomenon of bumped threads will never cease to amaze me.

It only shows my first five teams. Is there a way that it can show all 11 without it inconveniencing other SD users?

This info is on the home page, and also sent out in each e-newsletter :)

It's a facebook limitation, I actually write out all 11 teams but facebook only shows what will fit in the box. If you notice on your profile along the top, there is a link for Sim Dynasty. If you click there, you can see all 11 teams.

OK, now I understand why I am not getting any facebook sim dynasty notices.... for some reason my subscription did not go through. Resigned, added it to my facebook menu bar, and can see my current standings. There is a block with a question mark where an image should be.

What should I see there?

The question mark is just a graphic image for Sim Dynasty. It might be cached from when the site was offline for a minute or something.
