Pulled with Perfect Game Going!

Don Thomas had a perfect game through 8 innings when he was pulled for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 8th with one on and no out in a nothing-nothing game. Chappelle (the PH) grounded out but moved the runner to 2nd, then Chicago walked the bases loaded and we got a sac fly to get the run in. The first relief pitcher allowed a single to ruin the combined perfect game, but then newly acquired Tommy Jimenez came in to pick up his first save as a River Cat.

That pretty rough, but prolly followed your prefs. That or you have Sparky Anderson as your skipper.:lol:

I think you're exactly right! I remember reading once where Sparky was talking about pulling his pitcher (I don't remember who), and one of his coaches says "What?!?! He has a No Hitter going!"

They didn't call him "The Hook" for nothing! Lifetime Reds fan and grew up watching the Big Red Machine. Sparky was a great manager, but left his pitchers on a very short line.

I'm lifelong Tigers fan. He drove me crazy as our manager even though we did win a world series with him.
