Just Curious

Looking up the top candidates for ROY this year, in the AL TJ Barbary is listed as #2 in voting thus far. Why is he even eligible for consideration? He got into 50 games last season, which is beyond the limits for rookie status in baseball. Just wondering is anyone know the rules in regards to the ROY award.
My guy Mandragoran was the top candidate until his injury of 32 days. He's currently 4th and about to come off the DL and take back up his run for the honor.

Games does not matter...100 AB's or less prior to the season starting he is considered a rookie.

Rookie of the Year qualifications are as follows (a Wikipedia entry indirectly from MLB):
"Who qualifies as a rookie?
To qualify for the award a player must exceed neither of the following, before the season under consideration:
-- 130 at bats or 50 innings pitched in the major leagues
-- 45 days on the active roster of a major league club (excluding time on the disabled list or any time after rosters are expanded on September 1)"
Last year, I promoted Gene McMurtry about 50 games into the season. McMurtry previously had 125 ABs with the Kings. Later in the season, McMurtry appeared in the listing of top five ROY candidates. Even though, after missing the first 50 games, he had no real chance of winning, he was on the list. In another league, I have seen examples of pitchers with just under 50 IP in prior years qualifying for, and even winning, the ROY award. Based on these examples, I believe SD is applying the MLB rule as it reads above.
I hope this helps.

Trust me, guys, I know the MLB rules on RoY candidacy. I also know that SD here pretty much follows most MLB guidelines, minus the DH and not trading draft picks. By all accounts, Barbary would not be eligible to win the RoY award if he were in the real MLB. He got into 50 games last season, and was called up at the beginning of the season. He was not sent back down. Thus, last season was his rookie season.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not whining or complaining. Just curious as to how the rules work If he's worthy as being #2 in that race right now, then so be it. Gives my guy Mandragoran, as well as KC's Mays, and the two guys from Detroit a bit of a challenge.
It's probably the basic 130 AB/50 IP status where the cutoff sits without the 45 days on the active roster prior to the Sept. expansion rosters. Barbary did only have a little over 43 IP before the season started.

Good point, I had not checked the transactions portion of Barbary's player card. My guy was with the Kings for less than 45 days prior to his rookie season; but, Barbary was clearly with the Anteaters for the whole year, last year. Your stats only conclusion is probably correct.
