Interesting March Change

March 11, 2008 at 11:21PM View BBCode

From the list of changes for March:

"On the league info page, added a column to indicate the season that owner entered the league. NOTE THAT WE ONLY STARTED TRACKING THIS WHEN SINGLE SIGN ON WAS PUT IN So for old owners, it is incorrect. We will correct this year for your league, if and only if, you provide the year for all 16 owners and provide it in this format in Admin Requests & Problems:

Team ID, Username, Year Entered the league"

This change will show up on the league info page. I like it since it will make it easier to tell who is a veteran and who is new. If each of you will provide the information in a reply to this post, I will organize the information and send it to the Admin ASAP.

By the way, does anyone know where to locate the five digit team ID number? If so, please let me know. If not, I will find out. Thanks.

Tim

The User ID Number is on the Edit Profile page. Mine is 30194. I'm an original member of the Tim Raines League. Thus, I started in the 1950 season.

Larry
Phila. Ramblers

P.S. Several seasons ago, I asked the league members to tell a little about themselves in order to see what common interests we had, and maybe spark a little conversation on the boards. I got about a half dozen responses, but now with some new members, maybe we can try it again.

Larry et al,

I searched the message board and found that the Team ID may be found by clicking on a team listed on the standings page (or click on each team available on the roster page, or ...). The Team ID is the number at the end of the URL. Thus, the Ramblers' Team ID is 21337, the Kings' Team ID is 21252, etc.

If each of you would provide me with your team name, your username, and the year you entered the league, I will assemble the Team ID numbers.

Thanks.

I just took over Baltimore a couple of days ago. I have no clue as to how long the previous owner had the team.

This is an experiment. I just finished my first season in a dynasty league after taking over a pretty good team. I improved the team by 5 games over last year, and wound up in the wild card race until the final few games. If not for a rash of injuries in the final 15 or so games (lost my #3, 4, and 5 hitters.. and two of their primary backups... along with a couple of vital pitchers), I might have managed to leap into the post season. Hopefully I can keep my guys out of the hospital ward this season. I'm here taking over Baltimore to see if I can take a team at the bottom of the heap and turn it into a competitive team. Here's to hoping I can pick a couple (or 5) gems out of the draft pool.

A summary of the initial year each of the current owners joined the TRL, as posted:

Baltimore Privateers - 1969
Boston Burnouts - 1950
Chicago Anteaters - 1968 ? (player transaction research)
Cleveland cavaliers - 1950 ? (per npstamps)
Detroit Tigers - 1964
Kansas City Blue Rocks - 1950 ? (per npstamps)
New York Yankees - 1968 ? (player transaction research)
Washington Warriors - 1950 ? (per npstamps)

Brooklyn Kings - 1966
Chicago Cubbies - 1967
Cincinnati Red Stockings - 1967
Milwaukee Braves - 1950 ? (per npstamps)
New York Elite Giants - 1968 ? (player transaction research)
Philadelphia Ramblers - 1950
Pittsburgh Iron Horses - 1968
St. Louis Fred Birds - 1957

Regarding a few you you, I can guess; but, I would rather have you tell me. Once I have collected all of the information, I can submit it to the Admin. The Admin will then update our League Info page by including the correct dates.

Thanks,

P.S. Updated to include the Red Stockings and the npstamps recollection of five original owners.

P.P.S. Updated to include the results of my research into teams names referenced in association with player transactions (the Iron Horses did not change names, but I believe they changed ownership in 1968, too ... ?)

I'm not sure of some of the others, but I'm fairly sure that other members beginning in 1950 are: Boston, Cleveland, Washington, Kansas City, and Milwaukee.

Hello. Yes, my first season with the Pittsburgh team was '68. I did change the name briefly, but changed it back because I realized I liked the idea of keeping your traditions going. Plus, if some new owner took over a MLB team I was a fan of, I'd hate it if he changed the name.

I'm really enjoying this, so I plan to be around for a while.

The League Info page now lists the correct Owner Since year for each of us. Nearly 40% of us are original owners! I think that is pretty impressive.

P.S. Elite Giants and Yankees, I hope you join us for some more TRL thrills.
