All eyes on #1

February 23, 2008 at 05:27AM View BBCode

That's right folks as we make the final turn on this season, all eyes are on #1.... pick that is. With the #1 in each division coasting on to the finish, the real race is for the #1 pick. Three teams are making strong showing, but the early favorite is once again the Chicago Wind Breakers, with the Mad Dogs and Panix having to win games against each other. I have a feeling this one is going to come down to the wire though.
Congrats to Philly and Boston on amazing seasons.
Side note:
Good luck to all the teams vieing for #2 in both leagues. I guess that's a race that deserves some attention too.

i hate to burst your bubble, but a #2 team has won 3 of the past 4 WS.

Well said, and evertime after the first place team had a huge lead. The only time one of the #1 teams won was when they took the division by one game.
The more you know. Cause knowing is half the battle.

I really liked the Teenage Ninja Turtles, but that doesn't really relate.

Monumental collapse leaves #1 up for grabs.
Washington loses 3 straight to Cleveland to give Baltimore the last playoff spot, in doing so also give Pittsburgh a shot at the #1 pick overall.
Congrats to this years chamionship contenders, Boston, Baltimore, Philly, and Cincy. Good luck to Pitt on the #1 overall.

Now the real question is who will be drafted #1?

I don't see how you can go wrong with either Bevacqua or Chapin.

Congrats to Baltimore and Philly. Good luck in the WS.

thanks guys, but my rotation isn't as strong as it should be after going down to the wire during the regular season and the divisional series. i'm only getting one start from Larry Mee in the world series. after the terrible performance of my top relievers in the playoffs, i might be better off using him in relief instead of just getting one start out of him.

if i had been home on sunday i would have rested my top starters after i clinched.

ah well. maybe ABE will be kind to me again.

That doesn't really seem to be making that much of a difference right now. Your up 2-0. Sorry Phili, start breaking out the brooms.

nothing against you guys, i would gladly trade both of these WS wins over here for a little love from ABE in HGL.

Sorry I was already looking towards the 1970 draft. It got me ahead by a season.

Congrats Imalbundy. Good job. It seems that it does no good to beat the crap out of everyone during the regular season. So from now on I am going to aim for second place. ( Barely)

yeah, HGL is living proof of that. best team on paper and by stats 6 seasons in a row, but only one WS to show for it while two other teams that are not as good have 3 and 2 WS wins during that span.

Congrats, Imalbundy! I didn't think I was going to win a game there for a moment. At least I made it interesting! See you again next year?
