I was reading in the rule book, and noticed that it said, "Minor league players, or players that didn't play any games at the major league level, are not eligible for any off season improvements."October 11, 2002 at 06:54PM View BBCode
I'm not positive, but I don't think it matters where the player is at the end of the season. I believe improvements are based on total ABs, and players currently in the minors will still improve in the off season based on the number of ABs they got while on the big squad. I'm sure Tyson will correct me if I'm wrong.October 13, 2002 at 02:53AM View BBCode
I know that improvements happen in the offseason, and players improve until they reach 27. (right?) So what happens when a player is 26 the whole seaon, then two days before the end of the season turns 27? Does he improve based on the number of IPs while he was 26, or does it count the number of IPs while he was 27, or does he not improve at all?October 13, 2002 at 09:58AM View formatted

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact details of how the off-season improvements work -- we'll need to wait for Tyson on this one.October 14, 2002 at 04:12AM View BBCode
Here's the low down. If a player is around 27, he will be eligible for improvements. Its not an exact calculation, but basically any player born in 1929 or earlier will be elible this time (take the current year, and subtract 27). In other words, if he was 26 at the end of LAST season, he's still elible for improvements this year.Pages: 1
